The delegation comprising of General Secretary, MTT, Peshawar, Sharafat Ali Mubarak, Chairman SCCI standing committee on Cantonment Traders' Association, Waris Khan Afridi and senior vice chairman, Mian Akhtar, Haji Arshad Saddiqui, Chaudhry Shahid Ghafoor, Sabir Saraf, Faiz Mohammad Tajik and presidents and general secretaries of various bazaars of the city.
The meeting discussed various problems facing the business community of the province. Chief Executive Officer, Faheen Zafar and Additional Chief Executive Officer, Zia-ur-Rehman was also present on the occasion.
The traders in their meeting with Governor called for the inclusion of Peshawar in the most affected zone of the PM's package, writing of up to Rs 1 million loans of the small traders, exempting of traders with Rs 0.3 million income from income tax, 50 per cent relief in utility bills for a period of three years and withdrawal of the decision of 30 per cent annual increase in the property tax by the Cantonment Board, Peshawar.
The delegation called for stoppage of the collection of professional tax in the cantonment area by the NWFP department of Excise and Taxation, holding of polls for Cantonment Boards, issuance of stickers to all residents and businessmen without any discrimination, exemption of hotels in cantonment area of all taxes. Besides the abolition of tax levied by the Ministry of Tourism and provision of all health facilities in the Cantonment hospital.
The delegation on this occasion thanked Governor Owes Ahmad Ghani for provision of a fund of Rs 5 million for the affected traders of Peepal Mandi blast. The governor also assured playing effective role in the inclusion of Peshawar in the most affected zone of the PM's relief package.
